mICHELLE pERKETT sTUDIOS & A sKETCH!

** UPDATE! ** I am THRILLED to be this week's winner in the 'make your own BP' challenge! Thanks so much mermaids! looking forward to this week's challenge!

Michelle Perkett Studio Design Challenge Blog

Me again! This time, I am here to share a card with you which has been made for the latest challenge at Michelle Perkett Studios, which is to make your own backing paper.

I followed the sketch from this week's challenge at A Gem of a Challenge #22, which was designed by DT member, Rebecca.

Now as I am away from home (spending the Bank Holiday weekend at my caravan with my DH and the littlies.....lucky me!) I had very limited resources to use, (although it's surprising just how good I've got at cramming as much stash as I can into my 2 craft bags I always bring!!! lol!!) I had an idea as to how I was going to create my own DP and used MS Publisher to print one of Michelle's senti-images (LOVE) and coloured the hearts with a Promarker. I wanted to sponge-print ink over the surface, but had onlt got a couple of colours and no sponges :( so I had to 'make do.' I am a bit disappointed with the result, as I had to use a rubbish little sponge applicator and the effect is rather more blotchy than I was hoping for, but hey-ho.

I coloured the gorgeous party dress image with Promarkers and cut it out, then added double layered foam pads for extra dimension. I layered an orange Bazzill card with my handmade DP onto a 6"x6" scalloped card, with two ribbons as per sketch. I added 3 flower buttons from my stash (which I luckily had tucked into my bag!) a few gems and a ribbon on the corner to fit the sketch.

The sentiment I have used comes with the image, which is available from Michelle's Etsy shop.

I added some gel pen dots to finish the card off......not one of my best cards, but I was pleasantly surprised with the final result once everything was in place, especially as I had very little to work with!

So, to clarify, I am entering the Michelle Perkett Studios challenge,  (Make Your own patterned papers,) and the Gem of a Challenge #22 (sketch challenge.)

`Thanks for looking!

What Ya Got Cookin'?

Happy Sunday morning everyone!

Today at THE CRAFTY PAD, we have a FAB recipe challenge for you! We want you to use:

  • 3 DPs
  • 2 Ribbons
  • 1 Flower
And we are going to be fairly strict this week too, so make sure you stick to the recipe!!!!!

Our sponsor this week is Michelle's Scrap, with a VERY generous $15.00 to spend in her store!

The DT have all used one of the latest releases from the thank you teacher range at THE CRAFTY PAD DESIGNS.

Here's what I made:

The card-style is called a teepee card, and this is the first one I've ever made.....I love it, and will definately be making more of these!

The DPs I have used are called Apple Pie backing papers and are available from Scrapbookingmad.

I have used the adorable Ted with Apple and coloured him with Promarkers. I used my labels nesties to cut out and matted and layered using 2 of the 3 papers from the selection. My 1st ribbon is tied behind the topper.

The flower is made using a woodware punch and triple-layered  and decorated with a gem. The 'leaves' are made using my 2nd ribbon.

My sentiment is also from the Thank You Teacher range,  and is called Thank You Teacher sentiment. It is cut with a nestie, coloured with Promarkers and the edges inked.

I do hope you can join us this week, as we love visiting your blogs and leaving comments, the talent never ceases to amaze us!

Patriotic Colours

Hi there bloggers and a very happy hump day!

Today sees a new challenge over at FOR FUN and this week we are sponsored by the wonderful Digi Doodle Shop!

The theme chosen this week is.........

PATRIOTIC COLOURS

For me, that meant RED, WHITE & BLUE! We were lucky enough to be given some wonderful digis from the Digi Doodle Shop to work with.....here's what I made:

It's a foldback card using the wonderful lighthouse image, which I chose as it reminds me of my childhood, growing up on the Isle of Wight.....this is just like the Needles lighthouse!
I coloured the image with Promarkers and used lots of layers for the image. My BPs are from Pink Petticoat, they are such a great set, and I often fall back on them if I am struggling to find DPs to match, as they come in a fab range of colours. I added some ric-rac and a few gems.

The inside greeting reads: 'Birthday Wishes from the UK,' as this card will be travelling to my uncle in Australia.

Make sure you pop over to the challenge blog and take a look at the wonderful DT projects too.....some great creations from various parts of the world to see there. We hope you can join us this week!

MPS Die Cuts

Oh PLEEEEASE PLEEEASE PLEEEESE let me not be too late to enter! I knew from last Tuesday which image I was going to use, and which die cuts too, then things spiralled out of control and I've only just had a chance to get my card made and post up!  :(

Without further ado, here's my card:

I followed one of Lyn's sketches from over at Quirky Crafts this week. I have used the image called Rose, available from Michelle's Etsy shop. She is coloured with Promarkers and set inside a die-cut lacey circle. The papers are digital, purchased from Scrapbookingmad. I also used pearlescent card in pink. The roses are die-cut using Quickutz 'rose.' The daisies are made from a Bosskut die. Flat-backed pearls are the final touch to this simple card.

Happy Birthday To STU!

Today is my lil' bro's birthday....he's 39 and not so little at over 6' tall, but he's still younger than me, so he'll always be my 'lil' bro!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STU!

I used a Dustin Pike freebie image and some digi papers to make his card.....I chose the colours to match the new ribbons I'd just bought in blue and orange, and decided they looked good together.

I followed this Sketch Saturday sketch:

And here's my card:

I used a 6"x6" scallop edged base card, 3 different orange and blue spotty BPs and cute the image using my large tag sizzix die.

I coloured the image with Promarkers, followed the sketch and just added a couple of small button brads some ribbon and Baker's Twine. I made the name/senti using a digi set of alphabet tags and threaded them onto the baker's twine.

I also jazzed up the inside a little!

Lace & Bows #122

Good Morning all, I do hope this Sunday morning finds you all well :)

It's time for a new challenge over at THE CRAFTY PAD and our theme this week is one you're gonna love....

LACE & BOWS

Told you!! Hee-hee! And not only that, but we also have a fabby sponsor this week: CRAFTY SENTIMENTS DESIGNS. The winner will get to choose 3 digis from their shop.....and they are just delightful images I have to say!

The DT got to use some of TCP's adorable Chloe Fairy designs this week, along with the option of the butterflies and verse too.

Here's my card:

As you can see, I made a twisted easel and used Fairy Chloe on Mushroom and the butterfly verse. I coloured it with Promarkers.

I went for Autumnal colours and used MME papers and edged in brown ink.

My lace is on the base, in teal and chocolate, and is from a local haberdashers, and I also added a paper border too. The flowers and decorative pins are from WOC.

The double-layered butterflies are made using my craft tonic punch, and I added some co-ordinating pearls. The flower buttons are also from the local haberdashery, along
with the organza ribbon for the bow. The pearls are from my stash.

Here is the beautiful butterfly verse, which you can get from TCP shop, HERE.

I took lots of photos of this card, I just couldn't seem to get one that captured it properly!

I am going to enter my card into the following challenges:

Get Well Wishes

Good Morning all!

Well, it's Wednesday already, which means it's time for another new challenge over at FOR FUN CHALLENGES. I think it's safe to say that last week's sketch was NOT a favourite with you all BUT......we are hoping to see lots of entries this week with our theme of

GET WELL

We have a fab sponsor once again this week: Stitchy Bear Designs

Here is my card:

I have used pastel gingham papers in blue and beige, and matching circles and stripes papers, with plain papers to co-ordinate. I matted and layered them, and hope I have achieved the 'country' style/feel I wanted.

The image is from Stitchy Bear Designs, and has been coloured with Promarkers. The DT had a laugh this week, as we were given several images to work with, but nearly ALL of us chose the same one!
The senti is made on the computer, and I have finished it all off with some tiny brads.

Birthday Cupcake Decoupage

Hi folks,
busy, busy, busy here, so just a flying visit from me to share a card I made for Daisy, a little girl from our Opportunity Group who is 4!

I needed something fairly quick, so I used some bits and pieces from a fab kit called Birthday Cupcake Decoupage which I purchased from CardMaking Downloads. It is designed by Lorraine Robertson and includes several different backing papers, elements to make an easel card, AND full decoupage.....all for just £1! I made a 6x6 card using the decoupaged image and a couple of the BPs. I added Daisy's name and age, a ribbon and some card candy then some stickles to finish. I also used the insert which comes with the kit too.

One for the Boys

Morning! Not so nice out there today, a real chill in the air and plenty of clouds, but I won't let that dampen my spirit! ;)

Today I have a card to share for my nephew's birthday. He is 14, and XBox mad, so of course I had to use Mo Manning's wonderful 'Video Boy' image.....it's perfect!

I have coloured him with Promarkers my DPs are a digital set called Dinky Dino from Scrapbookingmad, (currently on sale at just 75p!)

I have matted and layered using Bazzill card and added some card candy too (I resisted the urge to add ribbons, gems or flowers, as I didn't think a 14 year old boy would appreciate that!!) The sentiment is computer generated, using 'Joint by Pizzadude' font.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:
