It's SCRAPTASTIC at The Crafty Pad!!

Morning folks,

I do hope you are enjoying a weekend of fantastic weather, just as we are lucky enough to have here?

Our lovely Estelle has set the challenge over at The Crafty Pad this week, and her chosen theme is

SCRAPTASTIC!

We want to see you use up your 'scraps' and leftovers from previous projects, and tell us about what you used in your post.

Here's what I came up with:

Firstly, I must thank Helen (Crafty MamaMia) whose card for the special month-long BCA challenge inspired me to make this.

My image is called Umbrella - whimsy 2 from The Stamping Boutique, who are one of the 2 sponsors we have for this week's challenge. I coloured with Promarkers and added some blue gems and Glamour Dust.

For the base card, I used a piece of A4 card in my 'don't throw...you never know' box, that had a section already cut from it, and managed to draw around a tea-plate to get the main shape! The papers I've added are scraps from previous projects, from Nitwits. The piece of cheesecloth behind the image was one i had previously cut for a project but it was too small, so I inked it with a TH Distress pad and staped it to the card. The piece of lace was one I had also cut but not used previously.

The sentiment is one I actually use quite a lot, printed onto a scrap piece of paper.  The flowers were punched from the leftover DP  and the swirl was another leftover from a previous project. I made some posh pins which are positioned to help 'balance' the card and some heart-shaped gems to finish.

Our other sponsor this week is Lili of The Valley!

Be sure to pop over to the challenge blog and check out what the DT have created with the images!

Here's my card

As you can see, I made a Get Well card using the mangle and dolly peg images.I re-coloured the mangle image on the computer before printing.

The DPs are a greyish/blue and I teamed them with a brownish/orange card for matting & layering.  I added some stitching around the edge, and made some roll-up flowers.

I created my sentiment on the computer.

Some orange grosgrain ribbon, a few orange and pale blue gems, and some die-cut flourishes to finish.

I also decorated the inside to match.

A Special Post in Honour of a Special Friend

Good Morning, and a very warm welcome. I am really excited to be here today to share details of a special challenge we are holding over at
One of my teamies, and a very lovely friend of mine, Dawn, is doing something wonderful to support her beloved mum, who is currently battling Breast Cancer. On Saturday September 8th, she is having her head shaved in honour of her mum, who has lost her hair through chemotherapy, and at the same time, is hoping to raise lots of money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

To support our friend in this wonderful gesture, The Crafty Pad will be running a MONTH long challenge alongside our weekly challenges to offer our support.

The theme for our special challenge is:

Breast Cancer Awareness and/or Think PINK
(not just a little pink but lots of PINK!)

In honour of this special challenge, Debbie, the fab boss and owner of The Crafty Pad, has created a plethora of wonderful FREEBIES, both images AND sentiments for you to use (optional) if you would like to join the challenge. Simply pop over to the challenge blog and see. All we ask is that you PLEASE don't share them, but direct people back to the blog to collect them in-person. Also, if you DO use them in your creations, PLEASE give credit & include a link back to The Crafty Pad. Simples!

AND...There's MORE!!! So many wonderful people and companies have offered to sponsor this challenge with fabby prizes, including:

 & more!
For full details go to the challenge blog.

Here is my card:

I knew straight away what I was going to do with this wonderful image!

Believe it or not, this image is one of the fabulous freebies designed by our dear Debbie especially to support this BCA/Pink challenge. I used a peachy/cream coloured card to cut the 'bust/chest' shape from, then paper-pieced the image using a range of Breast-Cancer support DPs. I LOVE paper-piecing, it's one of my all-time fave techniques. The flower was cut using a daisy-die, and finished off with a pearl. I added a simple sentiment. 'thanks for your support' surrounded by pink gems.

I do hope you will join us is this challenge, and help us to raise awareness for this worthy cause, and hopefully some money too!
